So when I was 14 I discovered a game called Gran Turismo. I played it every day and got reasonably good at it. Eventually I decided that I wanted to be one of the best in the world at it so I set about finding the lap records for each track/car combo.
I got so obsessed with trying to be the best that I even created a full on custom ‘social network’ called GT Playground. You could submit your times and compete against each other etc.
Eventually I did become one of the best at it and through all that effort we even managed to win a free trip to Brazil. I use the same work ethic of “obsessive practice” in my work life now. Zone in a just plow away.
So it is ironic that while in Brazil I decided to get stuck into Angry Birds. I beat all the levels and then decided to go for 3 stars in each one. That has now lead to me wanting to get the highest score on each level which in turn will give me a top 10 place in the Game Center leaderboards. WTF is wrong with me? I’m wondering whether I can do it… like anything else it just takes lots of time.
Anyway, I thought this pic of the birds was quite cool, so there. Let the games begin.
